Presenting the Summer Contest 2009 - "I Dream."


This month is going to be an exciting one! All through the month of June the Anime and Manga art community on deviantART will have a LOAD of fun. Thanks to for the theme of this competition, read on for more info!



Show us, using any illustrative, hand-drawn medium (digital, traditional or mixed media) what you dream, what's your aspiration, your fantasy, your desire, what have you always wanted? Be it an ability, a wish, a posession, a gift, anything that's in your dream.




Remember, from June 15th, you'll be able to upload your entry into this category >

Only deviations in that category will be judged. Don't worry, you'll be reminded on the 15th too!


JUDGING CRITERIA:


Creativity in concept: 40%

Show us those creative genes you've got, make this thing original and blow our socks off! This is worth a huge chunk of your overall ranking so do your best to come up with something out of this world!

Technical skill and Presentation: 40%

Of course there will be some hardcore competition, take a shot at it! Practise and do your best, but remember to have fun while doing it too !

Execution and Overall Impact: 20%
Skill isn't the only way to win, make sure your piece comes together in a way that needs no explaination, make this pic speak for itself.

You may enter as many times you like, but rest assured only one entry per deviant may make it into the finalists spots. Collaborations are not allowed (stock resource and textures exempt).

EDIT: FAQ's (frequently asked questions)


Is digital art allowed??
YES, it is allowed, digital, traditional OR Mixed media, it does not matter, once it is an illustration you draw with your hands (yes you use your hands to draw on a computer too. )

Is this only for anime/manga art??
YES, seeing that this is only for the anime/manga community, however what we consider to be anime/manga is a broad category therefore we allow slight variations. Once we are able to tell it's stylistically anime art a bit, it's allowed.

How do I submitted entry?
As I mentioned a couple times in the article, on JUNE 15th There will be a category opened for submissions as Contests > 2009 > I Dream. You will also be able to browse for all entries in there, once the gallery category is activated. On the 15th you will be notified as a reminder.

Can we collab with other artists?
No, as stated already, it is NOT allowed to collab with other artists to produce your entry.

How many entries may I submit??
Again as stated, As many as you like!
